Our Story
Freedom Worship Center began with a simple vision: to love people and preach Jesus.
In August of 2009, a small group gathered together for the very first time. What started as a step of faith quickly grew into a thriving church family marked by passionate worship, strong preaching, and genuine community.
After nearly seven years of impactful ministry, our founding pastor, Larry Cook, was called home to be with the Lord. While his passing left a deep void, God remained faithful to His church.
In June of 2016, Pastor Gary Cook—Larry’s younger brother, who had faithfully served as associate pastor since 2013—stepped into the role of lead pastor alongside his wife, Tammy.
Today, they continue to carry the same vision forward:
to preach Jesus, love people, and see lives transformed by the power of God.

Parking is free. We have special parking spaces near the front of the building for both handicap vehicles and parking for visitors. A carport is available for picking up and dropping off in case of inclement weather. A welcoming committee is available at the door to assist anyone with special needs.
Meet Our Pastors
Gary Cook
Senior pastor
As the son of a minister, Gary was raised within the church community. He became a believer at a young age and received his call to ministry at thirteen. He has been married for forty-two years and is blessed with two adult children and three granddaughters.
His ministry experience includes serving as a Youth Pastor in multiple congregations and leading four churches as Pastor. Since May 2016, he has served as Lead Pastor at Freedom Worship Center.
Bobby Henry
Associate Pastor
Born and raised in the church, Bobby gave his heart to the Lord as a child. He has been married to his wife, Jolene, for 45 years, and together they have two beautiful daughters and three amazing grandchildren.
Throughout the years, he has served as a Children’s Pastor, Associate Pastor, and Commander with the Royal Rangers, and currently serves as Chaplain for the Southern Illinois Division of the Royal Rangers. Since the church’s inception in 2009, it has been his honor to serve as Associate Pastor at Freedom Worship Center.
Cole Renner
Youth Pastor
Raised in granite city, and has a passion for the next generation to come to know Jesus in this area!
